Coming back to clubs and festivals is the second most wanted thing in our world right now (first being getting rid of Covid). Being safe is a big part of it and clever people in Barcelona are trying to figure this all out by their trial events. And you know what? It looks like a success so far and it might be possible in foreseeable future.

The event, named PRIMACOV, hosted 1,042 people in the 1,600-capacity Sala Apolo venue in Barcelona, with local DJs playing. In a statement, the PRIMACOV team (Primavera Sound festival working alongside the Hospital Germans Trias in Barcelona and the Fight AIDS and Infectious Diseases Foundations) used rapid COVID tests that delivers results in 15 minutes. Every attendee had to test negative before entering the event. As they stated: “That was, precisely, the objective of this study: to validate these kind of tests as an extremely useful tool to be able to carry out any type of event, whether musical or not, without social distancing.”

Another venues in Barcelona got together with specialists from SeiXsein Europe to develop a system aiming to prove that opening indoor nightlife under strict health and safety requirements can be done safely without social distancing or mask-wearing. The system will comprise of prior testing, contact track and tracing, the use of an essential and non-transferable QR code using the Liberty Pass APP to gain entry to venues, and the installation of devices that aim to eliminate 100% of the COVID-19 virus and all its mutations from the air and surfaces of indoor spaces.

Carmen Alvarez, the CEO of SieXsein Europe said: “At SieXsein we have been working since the start of the pandemic to find the formula that is best to reactivate and reopen the industries that have been most hit by the pandemic. I have been very fond of the nightlife and restaurant industry and consider that it has been left completely abandoned during this crisis and it’s a personal mission for me to reach the new normal as soon as possible and reactivate the restaurant and nightlife economy and tourism worldwide. Reaching this agreement with the nightlife industry will allow for the best solutions in biotechnology to be applied all around the world and recuperate the economy and general well being of people.”

With the rapid COVID testing at PRIMACOV producing no COVID infection afterwards and procedures and measure that SieXsein and other organizations are developing suggest there is a light at the end of the tunnel for music industry, maybe sooner than we thought.
