JYOTY BOILER ROOM SET
From managing the door at Boiler Room to making her debut on the decks; London fave Jyoty seeing out Thursday night carnival warm-up through to the end.
A few years ago I was the girl who was outside of the Boiler Room parties, doing the guestlist. Then I became the girl on the mic at these things. Now 2 years after the last time I hosted, I am making my debut as a dj.
For my favourite time of the year (CARNI!!!), 5 days before my 29th birthday.
I’m scared. I’m happy. I’m grateful. If I’ve ever let you into a Boiler Room even though you weren’t on the list, you owe me this one ❤️
Real hot girl shit
RECORDS DIGGIN TED TALK
Diggin records mean different things for different people. Even in the DJ community, we have different approaches to it. For me, it is a way to explore, to search, to discover new unknown records and music I can use and play. For others it is more of collecting and finding rare gems or even like in this talk, preserving or rediscovering forgotten music.
BEN L’ONCLE SOUL
We have met some years ago in Sicily at Hyper Week Dance Camp. He was there with his girlfriend and during some of the late-night when we were sitting and talking on the beach, he sang one or two songs. It was amazing to hear such a beautiful voice, but I didn’t really pay more attention to it. Once I got back I looked him up and his album A COUP DE REVES became my long-time favorite.
Funnily enough, his acoustic version of his new song popped up on my YouTube and I fell in love again.
Ben l’Oncle Soul is a French soul singer with a retro style who made his eponymous Top Five hit album debut in 2010. Born Benjamin Duterde in 1984 in Tours, Indre-et-Loire, France, he took his name and look from Uncle Ben, the fictitious elderly African-American man dressed in a bow tie who serves as the brand image of Uncle Ben’s Rice.
VISUAL OF THE MONTH
Many of you know that I love science and especially the universe. Recently I came across this visualization from the melody sheet showing the future as modern science predicts. Of course we still know very little about the cosmos, but itis just really interesting and for me even breathtaking to see the future in timescale I can not even try to comprehend. This video goes from 2019 to a year Trillion Trillion Trillion Trillion Trillion Trillion Trillion Trillion I don’t even know how many Trillions :D
We start in 2019 and travel exponentially through time, witnessing the future of Earth, the death of the sun, the end of all stars, proton decay, zombie galaxies, possible future civilizations, exploding black holes, the effects of dark energy, alternate universes, the final fate of the cosmos – to name a few. – melodysheep
INSPIRING AND MOTIVATING
One of my favorite sources of inspiration is definitely this guy – Simon Sinek. I sometimes struggle with decisions in my life and his talks, insights, and ideas helped many times. His book LEADERS EAT LAST is on my list to read this year after I saw his in-depth talk on this topic.
ALBUMS TO FOLLOW

NEUE GRAFIK ENSEMBLE – FOULDED ROAD
Producer, instrumentalist and DJ, Neue Grafik, presents his new mini-LP. In his own words “this mini album has been conceived as a journey from Deptford to Dalston, right through Peckham. During a personal period of transition, I put this music forward at a crossroad of all my influences, taking the time to share and experiment with a band – more than that, an ensemble.”
