Melanin #bybarbs

C18H10N2O4 is the molecular formula of melanin. Melanin is a chemical compound mainly responsible for the production of pigment in the skin, the hair, the eyes. It is nothing but a chemical which concentration in the skin determines its color.

“There is no logic in judging people by the amount of chemical in their skin. Pigmentation should have nothing to do with how you treat another person, but unfortunately, it does.”

These words by Jane Elliott, the creator of the Blue Eyes/Brown Eyes Experiment, have been occupying my mind for a while now and ultimately mold themselves into a photo series I named C18H10N2O4 .

I hope this series to be a reminder that we are all part of one race, the human race and that is all. – #bybarbs
